摘 要

进入上世纪七八十年代,随着翻译研究的文化转向,越来越多的学者从广阔的文化语境层面审视翻译, 把翻译提升为一种跨文化交际行为,一种受译入国文化语境中的意识形态、文学观念等因素操控的政治行为、文化行为。文化语境在所有翻译中是最重要的因素,其重要性大于任何法规、任何理论、任何基本词义。不同的文化语境决定翻译中原文意义的提取，也影响着译者对不同文化的理解和判断。

作为中国第一部诗歌总集，《诗经》在中国文学史上占据着重要的地位。为了向世界推介《诗经》，几百年来中外学者在《诗经》的翻译上做出了诸多努力。自上世纪70年代以来，从文化语境的角度研究《诗经》已经有了一些成果。

本文将主要从文化语境的角度比较理雅各和汪榕培的《诗经》英译版本，重点从两译者历史经历、地理环境、宗教信仰和风俗习惯四方面进行分析。
