摘 要

近年来，随着全球化进程的深化和发展，各国间的经济、政治、文化交流在日益加强。跨国家、跨区域的学习也在逐渐增多，由此产生的跨文化适应性问题正得到海内外学者的关注。

本文基于这一背景，从电影《喜宴》女主角“威威”的视角，以中国海外留学生为研究对象，对其在海外学习过程中的文化适应情况进行调查，并对其表现、原因及调节策略等方面做进一步归纳和分析。分析中国留外学生在跨文化环境下，学习和生活状况的变化。并得出结论：

通过对中国留学生在海外的生存状态的分析和研究，本文得出以下结论：这一群体的生活及学习状态受多方面因素影响，包括财政，情感等因素。各国之间的文化差异性是使留学生群体感到不适的首要诱发因素，它亦进一步加强留学生的思乡情绪。

本文归纳总结出调节中国海外留学生生存状态的几点策略，并希望借此帮助这一群体更好地适应海外生活。

Implications from The Wedding Banquet

1. Introduction

Ang Lee was one of the greatest contemporary filmmakers in China, the winner of the Oscar for the best director. Born in traditional Chinese family, since childhood, Lee grows up through their efforts to stand on the cross-cultural stage. His films focus on traditional and modern contradiction, eastern and western cultural conflict.

The Wedding Banquet (1993)(aka Hsi Yen) is a slickly mounted Gotham comedy about two male-homosexualities who try to hoodwink the Taiwanese parents with a phony marriage. The leading role Gao Weitong settled in America with his boyfriend. He forced to marry by parents far away in Taiwan, constantly and frequently. As the telephones of the forced marriage quarreled them frequently, he had to come up with the idea of holding a false wedding ceremony with the mainland artist who agreed to rent Weitong’s attic in order to cope with parents' forced marriage.

The Wedding Banquet is regarded as the masterpiece of Lee’s artistic achievement. This film won the Golden bear in the Berlin Film Festival Language Film in both the Golden Globe and the Academy Awards. The Wedding Banquet collected eleven Taiwanese and cross-cultural awards and exalted Lee in the eyes of Chinese and won him a name both in China and Western countries. Expert(Wang 1999) concluded that it showed the cultural friction and collision between western modern concept and traditional Chinese culture by shooting trifles. Furthermore, Lee showed the core ideology of The Wedding Banquet, individualism and collectivism, by referring the concept of family ethics

Since the last century, the number of Chinese oversea students has increased year by year. After entering the 21st century, Chinese oversea students have gradually become an important force in the cross-cultural student team. Relevant data show that the number of Chinese oversea students in 2015 reached 1.26 million, accounting for 25% of the total number of cross-cultural students(Cheng 2003). Among the other foreign countries, English-speaking countries such as the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and Australia are the largest destinations for Chinese students to study in. How large Chinese students can be further integrated into the cross-cultural academic environment and how to adapt to cross-cultural social life will be the crucial elements to the quality of Chinese oversea students’ living and studying situation. At present, in the face of the increasingly complex cross-cultural situation and high-frequency cultural conflicts, Chinese oversea students are bound to encounter a variety of intricate problems and more challenges in a strange cross-cultural academic environment. How to solve these problems is worthy of discussion.
