摘 要

对于儿童文学翻译这一文学译的分支的研究少人问津,考虑到儿童文学读者的特殊性,本文试图将接受美学理论用于分析儿童文学翻译。接受美学强调读者在阅读和理解的过程中发挥的作用。儿童文学作品的目标读者是儿童,因此儿童文学作品的翻译应考虑儿童的特点和接受能力。本文选用了怀特著名的儿童文学作品《夏洛的网》的康馨和任溶溶这两个具有代表性意义的中文译本,通过将接受美学理论与译本相结合,证明了理论应用于儿童文学翻译研究上的可行性。

1.Introduction

1.1Research background

In China, the study of reception aesthetics began in the 1980s, and Chinese scholars of this period initially introduced the theory of the reception aesthetics, then the related studies began rapidly subsequently. At present, more and more scholars have written articles about the reception aesthetics and translate the related works. In foreign countries, Yao Si once expressed his opinion: “If we sketch the desired level of each work in the longitudinal and horizontal aspects of historical development, we can open up a system of relations that spreads everywhere—then the new writing principles of literary history will be put forward.” That means the study of literary history should take into account the expectations of the time and the reader’s acceptance of the work. Iser proposes a communication relationship between the summoning of text and the recreating of readers. The reception aesthetics has been fully disseminated in the world, and it also provides a new perspective for translation studies of modern literature.

1.2Research significance

Although translation has been greatly developed in China in recent years, translation of children’s literature is often overlooked. However, children’s literature differs from adult literature in terms of subject matter, theme, and story structure. Through the study of the aesthetics of acceptance, it strives to preserve the cultural features contained in children’s literature and brings a sense of strangeness and freshness to children’s readers. In addition, it can also deepen children’s understanding of the cultures in various countries, enrich the world’s culture and safeguard cultural diversity, giving children a rich and pleasing aesthetic experience while reading

This article compares the two representative translations of Charlotte’s Web and summarizes the existing problems in the current English-Chinese translation of children’s literature. It also demonstrates the necessity of the study in children’s literature translation and the application of aesthetics reception.
