摘 要

《乔恩·斯图尔特每日秀》（简称《每日秀》)自1996年开播至今已有19年，是美国影响力最大的政治喜剧脱口秀之一，这个由乔恩·斯图尔特主持的节目，已经成为美国最尖锐的讽刺声音，被称为最受美国大学生欢迎的节目。研究其社会价值有助于更了解美国当代社会。本论文汲取前人在脱口秀讽刺研究的部分成果，选取政治，新闻媒体和国家文化为切入点，着重对该节目中大量运用的讽刺技巧加以研究，辨析其类型及效果，从而揭示《每日秀》所展示的社会价值与文化内涵。

A Study of Satire in The Daily Show with Jon Stewart

1. Introduction

The Daily Show with Jon Stewart (The Daily Show) is an American late-night satirical television program airing four days a week on Comedy Central. Drawing its comedy and satire from recent news stories, political figures and media organizations, and to which adding hilarious parody and satirical comments, The Daily Show describes itself as a fake news program. It has been on air for 19 years since 1996, becoming one of the most influential talk shows in the United States and having great influence all over the world. Under the host of Jon Stewart, The Daily Show has risen to critical acclaim, being awarded 18 Prime Time Emmy Awards and winner for 10 consecutive years from 2003 to 2012.

As a non-mainstream news media, The Daily Show has gained huge popularity among American audience through mocking news in a non-traditional news broadcasting way. With subjects varying from political figures, governmental bills, racial issues, mainstream media to popular movie stars, from substantive to trivial, The Daily Show uses different satirical techniques accordingly. Normally, satire is form of art that uses irony, comparison, or wit to uncover or attack human vice and stupidity. Although satire in The Daily Show is usually meant to be humorous, it is more likely to be constructive critique of society, using humor as a weapon to draw attention to both specific and relatively wider issues in society.
