摘 要

儿童文学作为文学的重要组成部分，一直都处于被忽视的地位，因此儿童文学翻译研究意义重大。本文将结合任溶溶翻译的《夏洛的网》的中文版本和翻译中相对应的归化和异化两个策略，探讨在儿童文学作品中如何运用异化和归化两个策略进行翻译，从而既能为目的语读者一种自然流畅的译文，又能在完美表现原文内涵的基础上满足儿童的阅读需求。

Application of Domestication and Foreignization in Translating Children’s Literature---A Case Study of Charlotte’s Web

1. Introduction

In recent years, China has imported more and more famous children’s literature from all over the world. However, researchers at home pay less attention to it, compared with those in western countries. Therefore, a discussion of the translation of children’s literature is of an extreme significance. The answer to the question that which strategy to employ will make a significant sense to children’s literature.

People always define literature translation as the smooth exchange of two languages that can express the text correctly, which sounds not complicated. However, the difficulty of the translations of children’s literature or other literature is much greater than imagination. The cultural connotations of different countries are closely related to various languages. If translators only pay attention to the language, the connotations hidden behind the text will be easily ignored. Children’s literature is a good example. In the process of translating foreign literature such as Charlotte’ s web, more issues have to be taken into consideration, for example, the characteristics in children’s literature, children readers’ reading and comprehension ability and so on. The limitation of children readers has determined that translators have to put more efforts on Chinese children’s literature in the process of literary translation.

So far, several researches on children's literature have been done in China and the significance of the research of children’s literature has been pointed out by many researchers and professors. For example, in 2000, Professor Zhu Ziqiang of Ocean University of China pointed out that “if literature is one part of social life, the Chinese children’s literature will be one part of the modernizing society.” Professor Zhu also holds the opinion that children’s literature has a significant impact on China's process of the modernization of society. Therefore, the translation of children’s literature must be included into the process of the study of literary translation in China. (Zhu Ziqiang, 2000: 2)
