摘 要

否定转移是一种复杂的否定结构，由于语用习惯语法化、主观性和礼貌要求等多种语用因素共同作用的结果，否定转移现已成为一种常规用法；由于否定转移导致否定中心的不确定性，从而容易导致句子产生歧义。

本论文主要从人际功能角度分析人际交往中否定转移出现的情境。从人际功能的角度看，否定转移就是通过降低陈述语气，减少主观性来实现人际功能。然后通过举例说明分析，从语用目的、超音段音位、以及否定锁定角度分析否定转移的成因，最后进行了总结，并对否定转移的理解运用提供切实的建议。

研究发现，否定转移的存在是为了降低否定力，从而使语气更委婉，以便达到友好交流、维持关系的效果。否定转移的学习者应考虑具体情境、语气、情态等因素，以便更好地确定否定中心以及理解否定转移结构。

A Study on Transferred Negation from the Perspective of Interpersonal Metafunction

1. Introduction

1.1Research background

Negation is the most shared natural feature among languages and it can be expressed in different forms. What’s more, transferred negation increases the difficulty to understand negation. Transferred negation was first mentioned by Quirk(1972) in his book, A grammar of contemporary English. He defined the phenomenon that a negative word or element moves out of its original position to a new place as transferred negation. And this phenomenon which causing the inconsistence of negation between forms and meaning leads to the ambiguity.

In addition, transferred negation phenomenon is rare in Chinese because of different habits of thought between English and Chinese. The focus of negation often follows the negative word in Chinese while in English, people may insert additional components which make the focus of negation and the negative word move apart.

Therefore, it’s significant to make clear the definition of transferred negation and find out the negative center for the sake of smooth communication. And this essay will help to summarize the causes of transferred negation from the perspective of interpersonal metafunction, offering a simple way to understand transferred negation.

1.2 Significance of the study

Among all the complex linguistic structures, transferred negation is the most complex phenomenon because it is easy to cause uncertainty of negative center, which directly leads to ambiguity.
