From 1920 to 1930, American literature boomed. During that golden age, batches of excellent writers emerged and outstanding works came out in an unending flow. Francis Scott Fitzgerald was a shining star in American literature circle during this period. Francis Scott Fitzgerald born on 24th September 1896 in a merchant family in St. Paul, Minnesota in the Midwest. His life was short but it was full of epic glory. His writing career was only 20 years, but he left four classical novels and 160 short articles. Those achievements made him an outstanding novelist in the 20th century literature. He is called the representative writer of "Lost Generation" by his contemporaries as well as later generations and also considered as the "Poet Laureate" in Jazz Age.

Many events from Fitzgerald's early life appear in his most famous novel, The Great Gatsby, published in 1925.Like Fitzgerald, Nick Carraway is a thoughtful young man from Minnesota, graduated from an Ivy League school, and moves to New York after the war.
